Therapy is not the same for everyone. This means we all have different needs and reasons for gong to therapy. A therapist will find the best approach for you. If you just need a listening ear that is not a friend telling you their opinion, 🙂 a therapist is the best option to help with this because they have a goal to help you talk and walk through these challenges to get you closer to your goal. This will obviously take some time.

If you need a more specific form of therapy that is trauma focused, grief based, or professionally driven the therapist should have experience in these areas, if not a specialization. They will meet you at your needs and work through a treatment plan to help you get to your goals. Don't take life's challenges alone. Talk to someone.
